SPARK Hackathon

SPARK 2019 - Smart Cities

In December 2019, over 200 high school students across the Greater Toronto Area spent 24 hours preparing and presenting a unique idea on Sustainable Smart Cities to a panel of experienced judges at Humber College. Over the course of one day, students received the opportunity to meet with industry professionals, network with other like-minded individuals, and attend workshops geared towards preparing them for the problems of tomorrow. Our team would like to congratulate the winners and thank all our sponsors, ambassadors, panelists and judges for making SPARK 2019 a tremendous success. See you in 2020!

SPARK 2018 - Space Exploration

In December 2018, members of FIRST Robotics Team 4939: Allspark9 hosted the first annual SPARK Hackathon at the McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ontario. Planned in a record-breaking 3 months, the event engaged 150 hackers in a challenge to improve Space Exploration. The 24-hour event included keynote speakers, fun activities, and a night-long grind to create a pitch for a panel of experienced judges. Attendees also had the chance to win prizes for  “Best Hack” and “Best Pitch”! The success of the SPARK Hackathon was a key factor in Team 4939’s recognition at the FIRST Ontario Provincial Competition, where the team received the Engineering Inspiration Award!
